Recycling
Delta Plastics offers farmers an efficient, economical, and environmentally safe way to dispose of your used poly tubing. The Arkansas Recycling Coalition's Recycler of the Year Award, the Keep Arkansas Beautiful Award and the Corporate Conservationist of the Year Award Presented by the Arkansas Wildlife Federation/National Wildlife Environmental Federation Award have honored us. Delta Plastics of the South is currently the only company recycling poly tubing. Delta Plastics makes a huge impact on the environment by recycling over 69,252,024 pounds of tubing since 1998. Delta Plastics uses a patented process that uses an integration of equipment from the oil field industry, timber industry, and the plastic industry, along with six years of trial and error. This process was patented with the U.S. patent office on December 29, 1998. The use of poly irrigation tubing has increased in recent years. Manufacturers estimate that 20-25 million pounds of polyethylene tubing are used in Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri and Mississippi each year. While poly tubing is an extremely efficient and economical form of irrigation, the discarded tubing at the end of the season is becoming a real issue for the farmer as well as the environment. In the past there have been limited options such as pay excessive tipping fees to landfills due to the heavy weight of the tubing and the lack of compaction. Some users also bury or burn the tubing; this type of activity can be hazardous to the environment and illegal in most instances. Delta Plastics turns all recycled poly tubing in to Certified Post Consumer Resin that is turned into construction film, agricultural film, and garbage bags.
